Why we love it:
We love the positive modern and realistic twist on this classic tale where the Mother Duck loves her 'ugly' duckling for who he was, despite being different. This rendition does not stray far from the original which makes a wonderful addition to any home library. A brilliant story about acceptance and of course, not to judge a book by its cover. When I introduced this title to my 2 years old boy, he immediately took to it and it made 'favourite' for a long time. Animals are almost always a hit with children, and especially effective in stories! I witnessed a deepened sense of empathy from my boy, who would tell me he wants to look for "Ugly Duckling" to play with him. How lovely.
